Brief history of the demo
After leaving Obscure Devotion with which I had played from May to September 1996, I decided to found Valkiria, and the following year I managed to publish "The narrow bed" with great difficulty. The contribution of Walter Basile was fundamental for its realization, without him I would never have been able to program the drums, as well as without Obscure Devotion I would never have acquired the right compositional aptitude. The summer of the following year at Walter's house we programmed the drums and synths on an Amiga 500 in a couple of days and then recorded the bass and guitars in a studio located in Pompeii on 5 October in a single day.

Why re-recordiing?

The re-recording of this demo was not part of my plans, I had for some reason decided that at least I would not have re-recorded the demo as I did with the albums released from 2004 to 2009, however the cycle had to be closed and this is also very important piece of my musical essence reworked in the light of my new consciousness. The first step was taken with the 2018 Ode project, where the two songs that occupied the b side of the cassette Death until sleep and my blind moon came together here in the same version, albeit remastered, mind the songs released on side A Black paternoster and the narrow bed were re-recorded starting in 2021.The forces that operate during operations of reworking the past are such, that they can overwhelm us if we are not well rooted in the present. Beyond purely esoteric evaluations and without complaining about what would have happened if I had released at the time the version that I am able to publish now thanks to the current digital tools, what I want to communicate is simple; the songs already had an overwhelming strength and an uncommon spirit, once the patina of time has been removed they take on a new life that nourishes me and gives me impetus, I wish you the same too.
